As a founding Teamkal member and with forty years experience of working on BAE sites, F. Brown plc have recently completed the installation of over 8000m2 of Kalzip roofing on 3B Shed at BAE Systems, Samlesbury.
Kalzip was the specified product due to its robust durability, which with an anticipated life span in excess of 25 years, alleviates future maintenance problems for BAE Systems.
The roofing work alone took twelve months to complete and included replacing the top sheets, liner and insulation for this strategic facility, which manufactures components for aircraft including the Typhoon and Airbus.
All work had to be carried out whilst the building was operational and cause no impact or disturbance to the workforce underneath. This required methodical planning as several construction activities were being undertaken simultaneously during the building’s refurbishment.
The entire project was delivered under budget and ahead of programme which has helped F. Brown plc secure another prestigious project on the site; the futuristically shaped Reception Building, which when completed will be adopted at all BAE sites nationally.
